Middle School Mural

Positive Messages for Challenging Times

2020 The Pandemic caught us all by surprise, but schools faced particularly challenging adjustments. As administrators, teachers, students, and parents all scrambled to adapt to new technologies and methods, it took the resources of the entire community to keep education alive.

The Parent Teacher Council of Saxe Middle School in New Canaan, CT, wanted to honor the dedication and perseverance of their strong community. They also wanted to acknowledge the sacrifices of the 8th graders in 2020 and 2021, who missed out on many school traditions, but who remained positive regardless.

And so they commissioned Mural Envy to create a mural that would not only stand as a testament to these times, but would also brighten and enliven the school corridors. To help achieve the perfect balance of message and symbolism, we collaborated with Two Brushes on the design and installation of the mural. It was a delight to work together on this project, and we are especially grateful to the Saxe community for inviting us into their hallways. May we all remember the positive community-building that came out of these challenging times, even as we look to brighter days ahead.

Client Testimonial

We hired Toni to complete a mural at our middle school to honor the perseverance of our students during COVID. She came up with the creative concept, working in elements that are unique to the school in a way that truly captured the theme of the community. Her team was a true pleasure to work with and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
